Hyman Newman was born in England. He lived in Brooklyn and worked as a lawyer at the time of his raising. He was Initiated on June 6, 1899 and was Passed on May 2, 1899. In the same year as his raising, a possible relative named Emanuel Newman was also raised. Emanuel was 26 years old, also a lawyer, born in the United States and lived in Brooklyn.

Robert Stack's father, Irving Stack, was a member of Modin Lodge No. 1153, Lynbrook, NY. He was Initiated on March 14, 1966, was Passed on May 9, 1966 and was Raised on June 13, 1966. He worked as a pharmacist at the time of his Raising, he was a World War II Veteran and he died on May 17, 2002, having been a Mason for 36 years.
Robert Stack's grandfather, Abraham Wagner, was a member of Mt. Moriah Lodge No. 27, New York, NY. He was born in Russia and at the time of his initiation, was 37 years old, worked as a painter, and lived at 1480 Madison Avenue in New York City. He was Initiated on July 17, 1911, was Passed on September 18, 1911 and was Raised on November 6, 1911. He was honored as a 20 year Lodge Veteran in the November 19, 1931 Lodge notice, and his death on April 13, 1936 was given tribute on the 'In Memoriam' page of the 1936 Mt. Moriah Lodge No. 27 Master's Report.

A black leather strip in two folds, once sewn at the bottom fold and now open. The once-closed flap is lined with a cream-colored fabric, the top flap is lined with brown leather. The top flap has the owner information written on it in black ink on the inside, and on the outside is stamped a gold paint Teutonic cross suspended from a ribbon tied in a bow. There is an eagle in the center of the cross.
